I left Paris on Sunday in the late afternoon towards Normandy (180 km). I packed up a new school bag I found thrown out in the bin walking down the Paris' streets as well another blue-jeans colored-like sackcloth bag. I had given away the Naf-Naf flower-child like lady bag in Budapest, one looking like those from the sixties made to go all the way to India.
I thought it was mine forever but it's better to get rid of the greediness and to please someone than to crave for some piece of cloth. It is not the craving in itself that bothers but the feeling you generate which makes you become dependent on (the) matter.
I am also wearing a Lacoste tennis shoes all the way to the Iranian border and a complete new set of recycled clothes as we are approaching the summer months.Back on the track ! Was interesting experience having you here...
As reading his post on hitchhiker's group, I decided that I need to meet the legend and recorder of hitchhiking, so I invited Benoît to come over.
After many years of hosting, it's the first time I met someone so different and extraordinary like him.
His way of living, thinking or traveling makes him chameleon of the world.
His few bags can make one fridge - where 20 kg of food wait to be cooked in different countries where his hosts can be introduced with his cooking skills.
Benoit is like a "walking encyclopedia" of traveling: his stories are never ending, but always prolonging and he is appearing with new edition every year.
There are much more things to tell about him, but I let you to discover, as he's someone you should meet.

NenadHistoire d'un retour rapide : Trabzon - Paris (4255 km en 4 jours).2011-04-20T16:27:56+02:00tag:beni.eurower.net,2011-04-20:/44Benoit Grieu1st day : Trabzon - Istanbul = 1070 km about 12h00 hours driving with 2 long distance lifts : Giresun - Samsun = 200 km + Gerede - Istanbul = 450 km (around 300 km on expressway).
Slept on two picnic tables set one beside each other into their length a few km before the Fatih bridge where all trucks are forced to park and wait till they are allowed to cross the Asia - Europa bridge starting after midnight.
I knew perfectly that going to lay down in my sleeping bag may prevent me from crossing the bridge in good times in the early morning as the trucks can't cross it anymore but I definitely chose to take a break and sleep some 7 hours.
2nd day + one full night driving + 3rd day : Istanbul - Kapikule - Haskovo - Ruse - Bucarest - Pitesti - Sibiu - Deva - Arad - Szeged - Budapest (Ringroad M0 around Budapest) - Wien - Linz - Salzburg - through Rosenheim, Germany (A8) - Innsbruck - Feldkirch - Sargans = 2430 km (1425 km on highway) = about 29h00 hours driving non-stop (2 drivers).1st day : Trabzon - Istanbul = 1070 km about 12h00 hours driving with 2 long distance lifts : Giresun - Samsun = 200 km + Gerede - Istanbul = 450 km (around 300 km on expressway).
